Аннотация
Статья завершает серию из двух публикаций автора, начатую в №3 за 2008 г. Приведен углубленный анализ политических, экономических и социальных факторов, влияющих на экономический прогресс развивающихся стран. На примере Ямайки продемонстрирована попытка преодолеть эффект маршрутной зависимости, вызванный многолетней ставкой на развитие сахарной промышленности. Анализ возможных сценариев выявил ряд опций, позволяющих добиться гораздо более привлекательного экономического и социального положения, что способствовало пересмотру технологических приоритетов правительства.
